🕊 The Enemy Doesn’t Mind You Being Busy — He Minds You Being Fruitful

“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples.” — John 15:8

Dear friend,

There was a time in my life when I thought being busy was the same thing as being fruitful.

I kept a full schedule. Said yes when I should’ve said no. I called it productivity

But underneath the hustle was fear and a spirit of self reliance. Underneath the doing was unrighteous striving. And underneath the striving was a distracted, discouraged woman who was living on stress. It wasn't working and I never actually ended up being truly productive, only burnt out.

It turns out, the enemy doesn’t mind when you’re busy. He minds when you’re fruitful.

đŸȘž Busy Isn’t Always Productive

Fruitfulness in the Kingdom looks different than success in the world.

In the world, busyness alone is a badge of honor.

In the Kingdom, fruit is grown in diligence of purpose and abiding.

When I finally slowed down enough to hear, I started asking questions I hadn’t dared to ask:

  • Am I living aligned with my purpose—or just filling my days?

  • Is what I’m doing bearing fruit
 or just making me tired?

  • What would happen if I slowed down enough to actually hear God's voice rather than relying on my own strength in everything?

It’s easy to confuse movement with momentum, but fruit doesn’t grow because the branch is doing more. It grows because the branch is connected to the Vine.

🌿 Practical Ways to Cultivate a Fruitful Life

If you’ve been feeling scattered or stretched thin, here are 5 gentle ways to move from busy to fruitful:

  1. Do a heart check before you say yes

Ask: Is this assignment from the Lord—or from fear, guilt, or pride?

  2. Anchor your mornings

Even 10 minutes with Scripture, sunlight, and silence can align your whole day.

  3. Eat meals that calm your body

Stabilizing your blood sugar with meals that include protein + fat will calm your nervous system so you can think and hear clearly.

  4. Set a 15-minute timer to pause midday

Go outside. Stretch. Drink water. Ask God to redirect your heart and renew your mind.

  5. Measure success by peace, not pressure

At the end of the day, ask: Did I bear fruit today? Not just Did I finish everything?

✝ Fruit Grows Where Rest Is Honored

Jesus didn’t rush and He wasn’t late.

He walked slowly. He rested often. He served faithfully. And He always stayed aligned with the Father’s will—even when crowds were pressing in and needs were endless.

We’re invited into that same rhythm. Not one of burnout, but of abiding. Not one of shame, but of purpose.

And we won’t find it by going faster—we’ll find it by being faithful in what's right before us.
